The habitat of the Iberian desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) has been influenced by various anthropic factors, especially by the con s truction of hydraulic infrastructures in river courses, producing population fragmentation and isolation. This work identified the potential physical and bio-ecological barriers for the species in the river courses of the province of León. 199 river courses were prospected, of which 32.66 % (n = 65) showed presence of the species. It delimitated 29 management units (UMs), and detected eleven dams and ten large reservoirs that hinder connectivity between the populations. Most UMs have critical, high and medium vulnerability levels (93.1 %), conservation measures are proposed for the species, focusing on the most vulnerable UMs.
